Welcome!

Hey there! Welcome to my blog! I'm really excited about having this new space to post recipes, pictures, techniques, and my own personal experiences with the natural wonder that is sourdough. I'll be honest, for a long time I wasn't sure what sourdough actually was, nor how to make it.But, over the course of my baking experience I became dissatisfied with the mediocre results of my commercially leavened bread. After having many chats with a dear friend of mine (which included me begging her time and again to gift me with a bit of her starter) she capitulated and showed me the beauty of natural leaven. So why you might ask, am I writing this blog? After seeing a picture of some gorgeous, fluffy sourdough donuts on Instagram I set out on a virtual trek across the internet in search of a recipe. I had been baking bread, pizza, and waffles with my start, but wanted to find another delectable concoction to add to my repertoire. I searched high and low, I went on Pinterest, Google, Allrecipies and food.com and I came up with a few recipes for donuts that were classified as sourdough but where not. My heart sank! I new deep in my heart ( as well as my belly) that I ABSOLUTELY had to have a real sourdough donut and the only place I could find that had them was in a little shop in Tasmania! This got me thinking... What if I'm not the only one? what if there are hoards of other home bakers out there dying to try their hand at making sourdough donuts? But why must it stop there? I'm certain there are many other delicious and creative treats that could be converted into sourdough! And there you have it! My blog (or at least the idea of it anyway) poofed into existence. Now lets see what good things can be posted eh? Hopefully a recipe for donuts :)
